The Events Manager is responsible for the coordination, logistics and successful execution of promotional events intended on generating new sales leads and marketing RCM programs. This role will take the lead on the coordination of both in-person and virtual events, including conferences, training workshops, and other hybrid events reaching between 50 – 15,000 patrons annually.
Technologically savvy and current, the incumbent of this position is continually up to date on events-related best practices, has an audience-centric approach, and provides innovative thinking to drive audience engagement and promote the best patron experience possible.
- Provides leadership as a critical team member, working cross-functionally with colleagues on event/conference strategy, concepting, event operations, sponsorship activation, audience development, and execution of a growing portfolio of events, combining in-person and digital attendance options.
- Manages all logistical needs and management of event site details by providing comprehensive plans, documentation, and communication across all involved departments and stakeholders.
- Manages and coordinates the logistical needs and bookings of event attendees from the RCM as well as stakeholders the RCM is responsible for (i.e., subject matter experts, special guests).
- Attends events as required as a point of contact for troubleshooting, execution, and delegation of activities where appropriate.
- Leads selection process and contract management of virtual event platform(s) and/or conference mobile applications for each event.
- Leveraging a strong understanding of all relevant technology to manage the technical aspects of both virtual and in-person events, including written briefs, direction of programming for events and integration with other RCM platforms.
- Develops and manages budget and reporting on metrics of success.
- Provides direction and input on the continuous improvement of our event presence by measuring past successes, identifying best practices, and proposing new ideas to expand our potential.
- Other duties and projects as assigned to support RCM events.
Job Requirements:
- A post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and training.
- Proven experience driving successful events, ideally both in-person and online, that support organizational goals and promote new business opportunities.
- At least 5 years of experience as a coordinator and/or manager of company events.
- Excellent communication across both written and spoken mediums.
- A history of success in driving customer engagement via participation across a variety of events.
- Must be willing and able to travel in Canada and the US as required.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of applications is required.
- Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) software considered an asset.
- Understanding of video programming and production preferred.
- Experience compiling event-related documentation.
- Music background is an asset.
- The RCM is currently observing a hybrid work arrangement.
- 60% non-travel / 40% travel in Canada and the US.
- Weekend travel and evening work as required for events.
