Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager PMO & Portfolio Delivery. This high visibility position will be responsible for driving one or more of the company’s most critical business initiatives. As a Senior Manager PMO & Portfolio Delivery, you will naturally be bringing order from chaos through stellar communication, facilitation, and problem-solving.
The responsibilities of the Senior Manager PMO & Portfolio Delivery include managing the end to end activities of the PMO, providing guidance on PMO policies and processes, client interaction on delivery initiatives, overseeing project management staff, and collaborating with other department leaders to develop projects and programs.
To be successful in this role you should demonstrate strong leadership and comfortable to communicate and tactfully influence internal and external stakeholders with competing views and priorities. Ultimately, a top-notch PMO Manager should be well organized and able to work under pressure. This role is a hands-on role, requiring a drive to roll up their sleeves and do the work.
This person focuses on employee performance management of direct and indirect reports by building strengths and addressing areas of opportunities.
Your sense of absolute ownership of an initiative and your eye for detail will be what drives the team to success.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for on time, on budget end to end delivery and success of assigned strategic initiatives from a holistic, end to end view. Assess priorities against business value to ensure release delivery schedule is aligned to business priorities value score. Optimize results within client, business and time constraints.
Oversee the governance structure across the portfolio. Provide transparency for any changes in delivery dates, cross dependencies and forecasts. Proactively manage risk mitigation and contingency plans. Drive activities to achieve aligned goals & works with individual portfolio sponsors to provide options and recommendations to executive committee for decision making.
Manage and support resources to ensure the success of initiatives and their alignment with business priorities. Assign Business Project Managers and oversee the team to define schedules, identify dependences, manage through issues and risks, and provide updates as priorities and schedules change. Lead and mentor team to improve their understanding and skills.
Plan and conduct resource capacity plan for Business Project Managers, evaluating portfolio decisions and change recommendations to meet delivery with required quality. Executes, monitors and delivers the portfolio with an emphasis on cross portfolio dependency management. Monitors the progress of the portfolio delivery and ensures timely and effective communication of the status and assessment of risks/issues
Identifies opportunities for standardization of processes and working best practices as well as recommends a plan for implementation. Assists the PMO with delivering continuous improvements to PMO assets.
Hire skilled delivery professionals based on portfolio landscape and complexity. Manage career progression and sourcing of direct reports. Create development plans, evaluate performance, provide coaching and feedback, and resolve employee issues
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, project management or related field desired
5-7 years of experience with projects/portfolios in an agile environment
3 years of face to face customer experience
Extensive project management skills using various programs to prepare and execute business plans
Demonstrated ability to interface with Client’s and manage initiative expectations
Advanced knowledge of project development, including process mapping, budgeting and timeline creation
Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward project completion
Demonstrated effective leadership, collaboration, and analytical skills
Advanced verbal and written communication and organizational skills
Eager to learn and adapt Domain knowledge and should be able to act as change agent
Knowledge of PBM, healthcare industry helpful
Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs and travel as required.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Strong people management, coaching skills and has a passion for developing their team
Will roll up their sleeves and get hands on with their team and their projects to ensure successful outcomes
Engages with an enterprise mindset, considers the big picture to ensure the whole organization benefits
Licensures/ Certifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
Agile and Scrum certification would an asset (SAFe SA or CSM)
Computer or Other Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
Working knowledge of Jira preferred
Prior experience in managing budgets using AX or D365
