Terrain Park Supervisor/Asst Supervisor
Terrain Park Attendants work as part of the Terrain Park team. Terrain Park Attendants play a key role in providing an exceptional guest experience. They are primarily responsible for ensuring our freestyle terrain is constructed and maintained to industry standards through physical testing and maintenance of all features. Terrain Park Attendants will also assist in developing new layouts for our freestyle terrain by installing or removing features based on direction from the Terrain Park Supervisor or Assistant Supervisor. Terrain Park staff work closely with all departments on the mountain, especially our Snowmaking and Grooming teams. Terrain Park staff are expected to also help educate guests on proper Terrain Park etiquette and how to ride our various man-made freestyle features.
The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
This is a full-time seasonal role, 5 days out of 7 per week from early November through to May each operating season. Please note that you may not receive full-time hours at the beginning/end of the season and during other slow periods.

A Day in the Life of a Terrain Park Attendant
‘It’s another gorgeous morning in the Canadian Rockies’ you think to yourself as you’re riding the staff bus up the mountain at 7:10am. The sun is rising behind the stunning mountains in Jasper National Park, creating an array of dancing lights as a backdrop to the superimposed mountains. You arrive at boot up, find your locker, and put your gear on. Durable winter apparel is a necessity along with the equipment; be it ski or snowboard, as commuting around the hill is part of your daily routine.
The day starts with morning setup; heading up the mountain to close up any openings in the Terrain Park fencelines left for the overnight Grooming crew, then maintaining all features as required to ensure they have been deemed safe for our guests before we open to public.
Terrain Park Attendants are also expected to work some evening shifts as “swampers” to assist our Grooming team in ensuring snowcat work is performed to the expectation of the Terrain Park team. Early season park builds, regular daily maintenance, rebuilds and teardown are all part of a Terrain Park Attendant’s role.
Around 3:30pm each day the Terrain Park team will start closing our freestyle terrain in preparation for our nightly Grooming work. Features that do not require snowcat work will be touched up using hand tools, parks will be closed to public and the day ends at 5:00pm with the staff bus trip back to town.
- Welcome Marmot Basin guests and answer any queries they may have
- Ensure Terrain Park signs are visible and located as required
- Construct and maintain all freestyle features/terrain to industry standards
- Appy Risk Management elements to ensure a high level of safety for guests and co-workers
- Report concerns or issues to the Terrain Park Supervisor
- Assist in emergency situations & assist Ski Patrol with injured guests
- Keep a daily log of all features and include any inspections and/or maintenance performed
- Report all damage or problems with man-made features to the Terrain Park Supervisor
- Courteous cooperation with other staff members and departments
- Assist other departments as required
- Follow Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to the job
- Adhere to the company’s practices and procedures as set in the “Terrain Park Training Manual”.
- Respect and adhere to the company’s policies and procedures as set in the “Corporate Policies”, “Employee Handbook” and “Terrain Park Training Manual”.
- CSIA or CASI freestyle certification
- Minimum advanced ski/snowboard ability
- Previous ski industry experience
- Demonstrated customer service skills; previous customer service experience preferred
- Previous experience in Risk Management, preferably in a ski industry setting
- Physically fit
- Valid class 5 driver's license (minimum) or equivalent
- Time management skills
- Problem solving skills
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Professional deportment with excellent customer service skills: experience dealing with all on-hill patrons.
- Cheerful, outgoing personality; demonstrated temperament and disposition for highly stressful situations.
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.
- Strong team member able to take direction.
