TST-CF Express - IT Systems Administrator Position
(Please note: This position comprises of a hybrid work environment, which includes three days per week at the office and two days per week working from home)
TFI International Inc. is a North American leader in the transportation and logistics industry, operating across Canada and the United States through its subsidiaries. The TST-CF Express LTL I.T. department supports multiple TFI International operating divisions out of its Mississauga and Calgary locations and has an immediate opening for the position, IT Systems Administrator in the Mississauga office.
This position will be part of our team of IT professionals and will report directly to the Manager of Technical Services IT. The role will assume responsibility for ensuring the consistent maintenance, configuration, and dependable functionality of computer systems, networks, and servers. Additionally, they will actively engage with different business units, working closely alongside our Level 2 administrators, and offer support to our helpdesk when necessary. This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals possessing a solid technical skillset enabling the selected candidate to advance their career and obtain hands-on experience with cutting-edge and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Help support and monitor network infrastructure, configure network switches and SD-WAN appliances.
- Help administer virtualized server infrastructure using VMware.
- Install and upgrade servers, software, and manage virtual servers. (Must be familiar with various server operating systems and platforms.)
- Monitor system performance, uptime and proactively address high network latency and network outages.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server/application related problems.
- Support network and system security protocols, including firewalls and VPNs, (Cisco and Checkpoint experience a plus)
- Collaborate with IT Manager to plan and execute infrastructure projects.
- Maintain documentation for network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations.
- Ensuring the integrity of data storage and backup systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator, with a focus on networking.
- Expert knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Strong experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex network architectures.
- Working knowledge of virtualization. VMware preferred, experience with vSphere, vCenter, and virtual machine management.
- Familiarity with server hardware, storage technologies, and backup and recovery solutions.
- Solid understanding of security principles and best practices in a networked environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience with Citrix virtual apps a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, MCSA, VCP) also a plus.
This position comprises of steady day shifts with two days per week work from home and some flexibility on hours. On-call will also be required once the candidate is fully trained.
