Information Services Librarian
Part-time Contract (6-12 months)

What You’ll Do
Our Information Services Librarians provide expert information services to members of the public and provide excellent front-line services that support and inspire our community in the exploration of reading, arts, innovation, and learning.
As an Information Services Librarian, you will:
- Answer reference questions, recommend reading material, resources, and services, as well as instruct members on the use of library equipment and other new technologies
- Provide leadership for the department and act as a Person-In-Charge for the building
- Assist with branch and system-wide collections management
- Develop online training tutorials
- Develop and lead programs, manage special projects
What You’ll Need to Succeed
To be qualified for and successful in the role, you should have:
- A Masters of Library and/or Information Science (or in process) from an accredited library school
- Previous experience working with the public in a service environment
- Be familiar with current trends and technologies in the library and other related industries
- Be someone who enjoys learning new technologies and providing instruction to others
- Excellent people skills and enjoy working with people of all backgrounds
- A passion for supporting the diverse interests and needs of the Cambridge community
Pay: the starting rate of pay is $32.50 per hour
Hours: 36.5 hours in a two-week period
Schedule: working various day, evening, and weekend shifts
Week 1
Monday 9:30am - 5:30pm (7 hours)*
Tuesday OFF
Wednesday 1:00pm - 8:30pm (7 hours)**
Thursday OFF
Friday OFF
Saturday 12:00pm - 4:30pm (4.5 hours)
Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm (4 hours)
Week 2
Monday 9:30am - 5:30pm (7 hours)*
Tuesday OFF
Wednesday 1:00pm - 8:30pm (7 hours)**
Thursday OFF
Friday OFF
Saturday OFF
Sunday OFF
* Includes a 1-hour meal break
** Includes a 30 minute break
Note: schedules are service-driven and as such are subject to change. During Sunday closures (Victoria Day to Labour Day), the schedule is reduced from 36.5 to 32.5 hours in a two-week period.
