Role: Project Coordinator (Marine Systems Technologist)
Location: St. John’s, NL
As a Project Coordinator (Marine Systems Technologist) at Pennecon Hydraulics Systems, you will:
- Lead Pennecon’s entry into the hybrid and fully electric marine propulsion systems, leveraging its developing relationship with a leading edge international marine propulsion system designer / supplier.
- Conduct feasibility studies and assist in the conceptualization of new marine technologies and systems. Engage with both internal and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure the successful outcome of the feasibility assessment. Engage specialists as needed, coordinating input needed to complete assessments.
- Assist with the preparation of cost and schedule estimates needed to support comparative propulsion system option analysis.
- Collaborate with the team to develop a full understanding of the application of both hybrid and electric marine propulsion systems.
- Perform technical calculations, simulations, and analysis to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and safety of marine systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using industry-standard software.
- Support management by providing technical expertise, insights, and progress reports.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and advancements to ensure the integration of the latest technologies.
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and project execution.
- Adhere to quality, safety, and environmental standards throughout the design and development process.
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- A degree or diploma in Marine Systems Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in marine systems design, hydraulic engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) for creating detailed technical drawings.
- Good knowledge of marine systems, including propulsion technologies.
- Experience managing multi-discipline projects.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices governing marine engineering.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical challenges.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Adaptability to evolving project requirements and a fast-paced work environment.
- A passion for innovation and a drive to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field.
