The opportunity
We are currently recruiting for Case Managers to work as critical team members in our Claims Services Department. In this role you will be accountable for the effective, integrated management of an assigned group of claims. You will work with injured workers, their employers, and a team of professionals to provide claims and rehabilitation services including appropriate medical management, early and safe return to work, labour market re-entry and compensation services. You will also work closely with benefit approvals for fatal injury and occupational disease claims, as well as ongoing management of occupational disease claims.

Some key responsibilities of the Case Manager position include:

Determines ongoing entitlement to benefits and services and needs related to the compensable injury are assessed and identified on an ongoing basis.

Manages case plans through a collaborative and dynamic approach which considers individual merits and circumstances. Through regular contact, the Case Manager builds relationships with clients with the ultimate goal of successfully reintegrating an injured worker to the workplace.

Clarifies, negotiates and provides conflict resolution between workplace parties or WorkplaceNL. Clear, sensitive communication of information and decisions is key.

Develops effective working relationships with all stakeholders through frequent telephone, written and in person contact. Case managers must be aware of and consider appropriate communication styles which is sensitive to factors including, but not limited to culture, gender and education. This applies to both written and verbal communication.
Ideal Qualifications
- University degree, preferably in Health Care, Social Sciences or a related area.

Candidates must have 3 years of experience with responsibilities for an assigned client centered caseload. They must also have experience making decisions that impact an individual case.

Well-developed organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with strong decision-making abilities, good judgment, well demonstrated knowledge of Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation legislation, policies and procedures, programs and services, medical terminology and medical modalities, and an understanding of the health care delivery system in the province.

Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, integrity, and a client service orientation.

Knowledge of administrative law, the applicability of the rules of natural justice and an understanding of the role government, industry and labour play in the overall workers' compensation system is also required.

A vehicle and valid driver's license are conditions of employment.
Experience and an educational equivalency may be considered.
An eligibility list may be established from this competition to fill future vacancies within a period of six months from the date of this posting.
