Position Summary
The IT Systems Engineer - Networking is primarily responsible for all aspects related to the design, implementation, and administration of Farrow’s network infrastructure. Farrow’s infrastructure is a diverse mix of technologies, the IT Systems Engineer - Networking will investigate emerging technologies and provide recommendations on which solutions best addresses our changing needs. You will design and deploy scalable, available, fault-tolerant, and reliable network infrastructure throughout the Farrow organization. The IT Systems Engineer - Networking should bring proven hands-on knowledge of systems and processes and not only provide expertise in designing network solutions but provide mentorship and guidance to the Jr. and Int. roles. The successful candidate must be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours and participate in the rotating after-hours on-call support schedule. Some travel will be required.
Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)
- Manage and support existing core network infrastructure and Azure cloud networking
- The network consists of a mix of vendors, Aruba, Avaya, Juniper, Unify, FortiGate
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and virtual appliances
- Maintain network templates to align with corporate standards
- Collaborate with other engineers throughout the Farrow IT team
- Create and maintain accurate network diagrams and documentation
- Investigate faults in the network
- Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Understanding of network concepts and how they play a part in a modern data center
- Provide leadership around Farrow’s technology stack
- Plan, document and execute on complex projects
- Participate in on call rotation
- Experience with Juniper Mist and Forti manager a plus
Preferred Experience
- Experienced in VMware vSphere infrastructure management with a focus on VSAN
- Experience within Linux and Microsoft environments.
Education and Experience
- Community college diploma or university degree in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent on the job experience
- More than four years of experience providing networking support in an IT environment
- Possess the appropriate industry certifications and training path
