Job Summary:
The Climate Response and Resiliency Coordinator (CRRC) will leverage and utilize their passion for helping others during post disaster recovery and build relationships with community groups to identify concrete deliverables in responding to disaster recovery efforts. This work includes, but is not limited to, providing recovery services post disaster, planning considerations for community recovery, identifying people and projects requiring recovery assistance, and providing guidance for priority actions during recovery phases.
Your Role:
Archway’s Climate Response and Resiliency Coordinator with the Disaster Resiliency Program contributes by:
- Analyzing the results from the flood relief survey and identifying financial assistance requirements.
- Connecting with families/individuals displaced by the flood to determine financial needs such as temporary housing options as permanent homes are being rebuilt, and needs for restoration, clean-up, and repair.
- Based on the flood survey results, providing a cost estimate of financial needs and a listing of priorities to address.
- Creating a disaster recovery guide and strategy for action to help people affected by disasters, in partnership with the City of Abbotsford and community partners.
- Connecting with various community groups, such as Gateway and the Red Cross, to determine common requirements that have a high priority for immediate action.
- In collaboration with community partners, establishing an action plan to include short-term and longer-term deliverables for financial assistance to respond to disaster recovery efforts.
This position is a great fit for someone who understands how climate affects our lives, and how we need to be prepared for extremes in climate, which impact the food we grow, our housing structures, and our roadways. This position fits someone who enjoys going out into the community to talk to people affected by disasters and identifying financial requirements to address immediate needs.
Our Offer
- Wage: $26.00 to $28.00 per hour.
- A full-time position at 35 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Some weekends or evenings may be required.
- Temporary one-year position October 2023 to October 2024.

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, business administration OR another relevant discipline OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Experience in relationship building.
- Experience conducting outreach in communities an asset.
- Experience analyzing survey results and identifying priorities an asset.
The Job Requires you to have:
- Sensitivity to and knowledge of disaster management and environmental issues
- Good organization and time management skills.
- Well-developed presentation and facilitation skills; able to engage an audience and facilitate productive conversations.
- A valid BC Driver’s License and satisfactory driver’s abstract is a condition of employment.
- Access to a personal, reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work with people in difficult situations.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
