SUMMARY
We are seeking an Outside Sales Representative to be based in the Lower Mainland. Duties will include key account management including hunting for new business through independent retail sales calls, and farming relationships with existing customers. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for planning and directing all activities of the area. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Sales.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represents the company in a fair and ethical manner
- Develops accounts through relationship building, increasing sales to existing customers and collaborates with customers to solve problems
- Research potential markets, identifies new businesses in the area and generates target contact lists, identifies the decision-makers
- Achieves or exceeds sales targets, builds a revenue stream with a good balance of new and existing accounts
- Plans daily-weekly-monthly customer contact and prospecting strategies
- Makes daily sales contacts with customers and prospects through appointment, drop-in, telephone and mail
- Cold calls and follow-up to develop prospects and customers
- Liaises with the Order Desk to ensure orders are filled accurately and problems are resolved quickly
- Liaises with Credit Department to collect and/or arrange payments on accounts
- Implements consultative and solution selling strategies
- Ensures timely reporting of Sales activities and results. Maintains a customer contact database
- Provides feedback on customer needs or problems to the appropriate department
- Keep up-to-date with product offerings, market trends, and customer needs
- Participate in general sales training sessions and meetings
- Gather information on competitive product and competitors
- Introduce new products and make sales presentations to new existing customers
- Carries out other related projects and tasks as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years of sales experience, preferably in food service
- Previous baking or culinary experience is preferred
- Post Secondary education is an asset
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills
