JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, the Director, Digital Engagement will be responsible for leading the strategic oversight of the organization’s digital engagement strategy across our social media, website and email properties.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working collaboratively across various departments and teams, as well as with external partner agencies, to build effective and innovative paid and organic social media programs and campaigns focused on increasing donor and supporter engagement and acquisition, growing revenue, promoting our mission and increasing brand awareness. You have a proven track record of creating integrated and effective digital content strategies for website and email marketing to deliver exceptional user experiences and achieve organizational goals. You have an in-depth understanding of SEO and content marketing best practices, including the strategic planning of blog content and corresponding social media assets.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

Lead and mentor a high-performing team made up of social media, digital content, and logistics professionals. The Digital Engagement team is responsible for creating and executing our English and French content strategies to align with our organizational goals and objectives.

Oversee and work closely with the Senior Manager, Social Media, to implement and enhance our organic and boosted social media strategy, using data and insights to drive innovation and identify opportunities to continue to grow our channels, engage our online communities, drive conversions, and achieve organizational goals.

Oversee and work closely with the Manager, Digital Content, to implement and enhance our digital content, strategy, including SEO planning, our blog strategy, and oversight of content on cancer.ca.

Work with other key internal digital content owners and creators to evolve and enhance our online content strategy for our primary digital properties including cancer.ca. This includes the execution of our content SEO planning and approach and working with stakeholders to advance organizational goals from an SEO perspective.

Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership to other teams, departments, and external agency partners for social media, digital content creation and digital engagement strategies. including applying best practices for logistics and use of tools, technology, and platforms to drive engagement

Lead and mentor the Senior Manager, Social Media and Manager, Digital Content to bring best-in-class methods to digital content creation, storytelling, process improvement, and ideation by applying new, innovative ideas and creative ways to tell our story and engage supporters. Ensure all digital and social media content adheres to accessibility standards.

Collaborate with internal teams and external agency partners to develop campaign and program strategies for paid and organic social media, email marketing and web content to support fundraising, research, advocacy, and mission initiatives.

Stay up to date with changes in digital content and social media platforms, including emerging platforms, engagement trends, how CCS can best leverage and optimize developments to improve our online experience and support business objectives.

Ensure a consistent brand across our social media, website, and email properties, managing our brand reputation and working closely with the brand marketing and communications teams.

Manage regular reporting and analytics for digital and social media engagement strategies, providing insights and recommendations to business leads, other various stakeholders at CCS, and leveraging data to inform strategy development and to optimize tactics

Participate in annual departmental goal setting and action plan development

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

University degree or equivalent in related subject area.

Minimum 7 years experience in digital marketing/communications, including at least 3 years leading people.

Exceptional people management skills with an ability to lead, coach and motivate team members across the country

Experience managing multi-lingual, remote teams is an asset.

Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships within the organization and with external vendor partners

Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify opportunities, and develop digital and social media campaigns to capitalize on proactive opportunities for content development
-
Experience creating and implementing successful and integrated digital engagement strategies including both paid and organic social media, email marketing, web and mobile. This includes execution of social media strategies for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X.

A strong knowledge of writing for the web and content SEO, including plan implementation.

Ability to analyze and assess the performance of campaigns, and translate quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights and recommendations for revising online campaign strategy.

Identify opportunities to improve and streamline process to increase efficiency

Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with competing priorities

Excellent oral, presentation, and written skills in English

In-depth knowledge and understanding of digital inclusion and accessibility standards (AODA compliance.)

In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media planning tools.

Strong interpersonal, planning, management, and organizational skills.

Previous use of content and SEO management tools, such as Sprout Social and SiteImprove considered an asset.

Professional level of the French language (bilingualism) is an asset
