Position Summary:
Join our Thermal Processing Team as an associate and help us create cutting-edge cathode materials for Li-ion batteries. You will use your materials engineering and science skills to apply calcination technologies to various cathode active materials. You will also conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, communicate the results, and maintain and operate calcination equipment. You will report to the Thermal Processing Team Lead and collaborate with your peers. If you are passionate about innovation and solving tomorrow's problems, apply now.
Responsibilities:

Provide support to Thermal Processing Engineers and Research Scientists in their daily activities.

Analyze samples using a range of techniques (e.g., TGA, SEM, EDS, XRF) for characterization and interpretation.

Participate in experiments to explore reaction kinetics during material calcination using various equipment.

Assemble Li-ion half cells using cathode materials produced in calcination studies, utilizing Arbin Instruments battery cyclers for data collection.

Maintain and calibrate furnaces at both laboratory and pilot scales.

Assist in commissioning and validating new calcination equipment.

Contribute to kiln modifications as needed for experimental setups and sensor calibration.

Report and communicate any issues or unexpected results related to calcined materials or calcination equipment.

Share findings with other teams through reports and presentations.

Collaborate on the development of new calcination procedures for various scales.
Qualifications:
-
Recent graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in materials science, Chemistry, or Chemical engineering.

Experience working with hand tools would be preferred.

Experience working with ceramics or high-temperature calcination would be an asset.

Experience working with various types of kilns or furnaces would be an asset.

Innovative mindset and adaptability-based problem-solving approach.

Proficiency in MS Office suite is preferred.
