Under the direction of the Manager, Fleet and Facility Analytics, this position provides analytical support for the Fleet & Facility Services branch by building data sources, developing Tableau dashboards and doing analyses in spreadsheets. The position will be responsible for all aspects of research, data collection, data validation, modeling, blending, reporting and analysis for various client groups.
The position is expected to learn about the branch business and use this knowledge to work with representatives to identify specific reporting requirements. This means learning the associated processes within the business, as well as understanding the underlying data structure for the specified technologies used by the branch. Using this knowledge, the position is a partner with the business, providing initial analysis on the results. The reports are significant aid to the business as they enable various business areas to make data driven decisions.

- Use a variety of systems (Tableau, SAP, M5, PeopleSoft, Tririga, GPS software, Google Sheets, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SQL Developer, Microsoft SQL Server) to collect, organize and blend data
- Work with clients to identify scope of work for analyses, dashboards and reports. This can include mapping processes and documenting business requirements to ensure that the reporting solution will meet their needs
- Extract the data from database tables manually or through ODBC connections
- Do analysis work in spreadsheets often with hundreds of thousands lines of data
- Create dashboards and reports using Tableau
- Independently validate the data for completeness, accuracy and relevance. Then seek validation from a variety of perspectives to continuously improve the accuracy of the analysis
- Create test scripts and conducts testing to ensure the data is accurate in the dashboard and that the actions, filters and visuals dashboard are functioning properly
- Create documentation for the reports including logic, methodologies and business signoff
- Prepare and present narratives and explanations to accompany statistical data
- Build effective working relationships with the network of stakeholders within the branch
- Prepare monthly reporting and ad hoc analyses for internal and external clients
- Research new reporting styles and techniques including visual presentation best practices and assist with the development of standard practices and processes for data collection
- Identify data issues; work with the business and IT to recommend solutions, initiate resolutions
- Coach and mentor other members of the team to enhance team capabilities
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Commerce, Computer Science or related discipline (specializing in data analytics, statistical modeling and data visualization) from a recognized educational institution
- Minimum 2 years experience in an operational environment, with a focus on data analysis and data validation as well as performance and financial measurement
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Google Suite, SQL and Tableau is required
- Experience with automated data extraction, analysis and and dashboard building
- Proficiency in modeling, operational and statistical research
- Strong mathematical skills with the ability to interpret data
- Ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, both oral and written
- Ability to work independently under broad direction
- Knowledge of work methods, studies and analytical procedures, practices and terminology related to the Fleet and Facility Services businesses

- This position will work out of a facility that is not accessible via public transportation. A valid Class 5 license and access to personal transportation is recommended

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
Salary Range: $36.577 - $45.697 (Hourly)
